17:59 - My theory right now is that this art student positioned it there so that the mystery gang discussing it is a cue for him to act bonkers
Thoughts rn: The suspect list looks like this case is going to be based on what skills in sports were used to make this mystery, and I like that.

Conan is back in HS after being gone a year, of course there's angst.

TIME PARADOX! heh heh ehheh! i saw it again! this time in the anime plotline! this ghost has been dead 2 years. so he died as a 1st year. evidence to follow.

the karate girl is the FORMER captain, the ghost's classmate, and is 18. the other jock with the 'stomach problems' was the ghost's childhood friend is also 18. the art room student is 18 too.

the senpai karate girl is worried about college entrance exams. that makes her a 3rd year HS student about to graduate after the present semester finishes. it is right now 2nd semester. also, according to her age she's a 3rd year.

Conan says, 'oh he died before i started high school.' Ran and Sonoko too. Conan is supposed to be a 1st year. that means he's been Conan a year. not six months like Aoyama-sensei said previously! heh ehheheheheh! he seriously, SERIOUSLY should have NEVER said his manga takes place within a six-month period of time! i've now disproved that TWICE! (once more insert Kogoro's boasting laugh sound-effect) :D bwahahahahah! bwahahahhaha! :D

club presidents/team captains for sports retire after semester 1 of their 3rd year of high school is over in Japan. the 2nd year assistant club president/new team captain for sports clubs take over, the retiring captain/president names a successor, there's an internal election etc. depending on that school's club rules or the specific club's rules.

in Japan college entrance exams on the National System all happen at once at various locations around the Country. it is similar to a civil service exam for government jobs. some colleges require certain tests, so you have to take that one, at a specific location date and time. other colleges only require the National College Entrance Exam Test itself. it all depends on the college. the Japanese National Exam Test for college ALWAYS happen after the HS 2nd semester finishes but before the graduation ceremony/welcoming new students' ceremony for that year. normally the NCEET is during the December 'Winter Break'. Winter Break starts a bit before Xmas and ends after January 1st.

so right now, it isn't near Winter break. but it isn't Summer season. the girls and boys are wearing their blazers not their Summer uniforms. that also confirms it is 2nd semester. Summer uniform change to Winter uniform happens DURING the 2nd semester.
